The Cancer and Leukemia Group B Foundation invites oncology junior faculty within years 1 to 3 of a faculty appointment to apply for a research grant to support studies that assess interventions in cancer patients and/or that examine biological specimens obtained from cancer patients.
Submisions are limited to research in the following areas: leukemia, lymphoma, breast, respiratory (lung), surgery, transplant, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, cancer in the elderly, pharmacology and experimental therapeutics, imaging, and cancer control and health outcomes.
This award is sponsored by Abraxis BioScience, Amgen Oncology and Celgene.
Instructions for Submitting an Application for the CALGB Investigator Award
A One-Year Cancer Research Grant for CALGB Oncology Junior Faculty
Your complete grant submission should include the following documents:
- Cover Letter
- Proposal (10-page maximum)
- Draft Protocol (if applicable)
- CV
- Bibliographical Citations
- Other Research Support (include project titles, funding sources, dates and amounts)
- Letter of Support from Section Chief or Department Chair
- Letter of Support from Research Mentor
- Proposed One-Year Budget with Justification
Each part of the application should be submitted as a separate document. PDF files are preferred. The filename should include the initial of your first name, your full last name and then document name, ending with .pdf.
For example, for Barbara Smith's application:
- bsmithcoverletter.pdf
- bsmithproposal.pdf
- bsmithprotocol.pdf
- etc. for the rest of the files.

Applications must be e-mailed by midnight, CST, January 15, 2009.
Applications will be reviewed by an independent scientific review committee. Awards will be announced at the 2009 CALGB Summer Group Meeting. Funding will begin approximately August 1, 2009.
